She believes fashion is a powerful vehicle of expression —  a medium to freely reflect the self and guiding values. Rooted in a interdisciplinary focus on social justice and public policy, Madelyn designs with a creative and ethical consciousness that infuses activism and purpose into her practice through a user-centered approach. She prioritizes sustainable production and inclusivity regardless of size, age, or gender expression.

      Her design aesthetic is influenced by traditional feminine forms — corsets, bustles,  hoop skirts, which she subverts by introducing function and fluidity that accommodates and enhances, rather than restricts, the body. She hopes to lead a reflection on resistance, redefining femininity, and challenging traditional notions of gender.

 

      She promotes sustainability through a value on material  — researching what exists in excess in her immediate environment and sourcing from local factories, thrift stores, and antique malls.

 

      Distinguished by her thoughtfulness to craft and sharp sense of detail, a delicate yet bold approach to ornamentation transforms her garments into as much art objects as they are functional dress — from hand dyed beaded table runners to laser cut trims created from damaged leather jackets. This attention to materiality and craft are rooted in her cross-disciplinary work  — construction to jewelry making —and a patience for embracing new skills.
